I feel satisfied that there is no adequate substitute for the morning and evening practice of kneeling together - father, mother, and children. This, more than heavy carpets, mor than lovely draperies, more than cleverly balanced color schemes, is the thing that will make for better and more beautiful homes.

Dear Missionaries,

Many of you know that I am just knowledgeable about computers to be really dangerous. I have been very dangerous of late and consequently I have not been able to be on the internet for several days. Whereas I had planned to send out a Christmas letter, it must now be a New Years letter. It will, however, deal with the same thoughts that I previously had, prior to being so dangerous.

First of all, we are both healthy and well and enjoying this Holiday Season in Tucson, Arizona, while visiting our son, Lance, and family. It is something more than a visit, as we have a "casita" in Tucson. When Lance built his home, we paid to have an addition of 4 rooms tacked onto the side. It is great and we can leave it knowing that it will be watched and kept secure. It serves as a place to get away from the winter in the mountains. This year, we have had two thirds of our family here for the holidays. But enough of that, let us get on to the main part of this epistle.

On 23 Dec., many of you probably listened to the special program, jointly from the birth place of the prophet Joseph Smith and the conference center in Salt Lake City. I am sure that you concluded as I did, that it was an extraordinary program and our prophet leaders were very articulate as they spoke of the Prophet Joseph Smith and the Restoration of the Gospel in these latter days. Hence, I have taken the liberty to attach to this letter a report of the program and the remarks of the speakers, along with some pictures. These items were reported in the Meridian Magazine.

Each of you can be proud of the way you represented the Church during your service in the Scotland Edinburgh Mission. Those were wonderful days, which we shared, and they will forever be memories we can recall with pleasure and joy. Those experiences have provided vital direction to your lives today. They solidified your core values and are the basis for lives of continued service in the work of the Master. You are living lives of dedicated work, achievement and service. You are the leaders and trend setters of tomorrow.

The Lord will depend upon you to be the standard bearers and to lead the way in the continued growth of His Kingdom here upon this earth. Like President Hinckley, I have great confidence in you and your ability.

I hope that each of you are keeping your contact information on the Clydera.com web site up to date. And I would suggest also, that you might write to all missionaries and put it upon the website. That will help us all to keep in touch and let each one know what, where and when significant things occur in our lives. As an example, how many know that Samuel Babin and family are moving back to France? You all have things to share, which will add spice to each of our lives.

As we approach the New Year, let us remind you of our love and support for each one of you. You have brought happiness and joy in to our lives. We have reveled in your accomplishments and in the growth of your families. It is our prayer that the Lord will smile upon you with benevolence and prosper you in the achieving of your dreams. Please know that you are always welcome in our home. Your presence is delightful and brings joy into our hearts and home.

Now, may God bless you each one,

Pres. and Sister Clyde
