Dear Missionaries,
As we think of each of you, we are reminded of your great appreciation for
Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ, which motivated you to go to Scotland to
serve them by sharing the gospel with our brothers and sisters of that
bonnie land. Surely you were lifted closer to our Father as you considered
the great creations of His hands, which play such an important part in the
great plan of life and salvation. Pres. Hugh B. Brown put it this way, when
he said, "Each person should revere and honor the sanctity of life and live
on the high plateau where self-respect is paramount. This he will do if he
remembers that his life proceeds from God. He will then be loyal to the
royal in himself." As we accept that we are children of our God, and so are
all races, it gives us the perspective of our Father in Heaven, and we treat
all others with the dignity that they deserve. We love this attribute,
which you developed through your service.
As well, you are part of another great family, here in mortality. You have
learned much from your spouse, which is good, and which lifts you to a
sense of responsibility to your own family. Is it any wonder that we are
proud to call you "one of the Clydera?" Certainly you qualified yourself as
an "ambassador of Christ" in the fullest sense of the phrase, turning
attention from yourself to others, as you follow our Master.
These attributes and many others have fostered in you a positive and
cheerful attitude, which is infectious to all others about you.
We love and appreciate you for the good you did and will yet accomplish as
you serve the Lord in your present Ward or Stake responsibilities. We pray
constantly for your welfare and for the success of your labors in building
God?s Kingdom here on earth.
Our October reunion was brilliant. We wish that all could have attended.
Visiting with you brought vivid memories of our times together there. It
was truly a "touch of Scotland." As Thanksgiving approaches, our hearts are
gladdened once again by those grand experiences.
With our love and blessing,
President and Sister Clyde
