"If ye are prepared ye shall not fear" (D&C 38:30). This brief statement is a promise wonderful and sure. It carries a message for all of us - for the youth who wonder about education, for the head of the household who has responsibility for a family, for the business or professional man, for the teacher or the speaker, for the church officer. All of us occasionally face responsibilities that bring with them a sense of fear. Where there is adequate preparation, there need be no fear. Such is the promise of the Lord.

- President Gordon B. Hinkley, Stand A Little Taller, 2001

March 8, 2006    Greetings!

Just a heads up. I recently received word from the former Elder (but still good looking) James Edwards on an upcoming SEM Reunion, to be held in England, near Manchester... mostly to benefit former missionaries who have not been able to attend past SEM Reunions, held here in the States.

While plans are still forthcoming on the schedule of events, three things are for sure: 1) The reunion will be held Friday & Saturday, August 25th and 26th, 2006, 2) President & Sister Clyde will be in attendance, and 3) Edwards is still hansom as ever, despite recent reports of being old and married, with lots of kids.

It is hoped that everyone present will join the Clydes in attending at least one session in the Preston Temple. Also, there are tentative plans for a dinner and program. Although many requests have been made for Edwards perform his famous break-dance ballet, inquiries have been politely refused, due to overbooking.

The Clydera.com administration is now accepting donations to buy larger luggage for President & Sister Clyde, in hopes of squeezing a few of us overseas. We know the chance of getting through customs is slim, but worth the risk. In fact, we have already begun fasting, in order to fit INSIDE his suits in his garment bag. After all, loosing a few pounds for the cause of truth is always... oh, wait... never mind. (Yes, we are just joking.... but, still wishing. :-)

This notice is only being sent in hopes of informing those who MAY be in a position to attend the festivities, and is by no means an authorization by President and/or Sister Clyde to sell everything you own (including your pets) in order to attend (though the giving away of sins, I am sure, would be encouraged if it will help you to do so. ;-)

More details to follow, as they are received. If you have any further questions or concerns, feel free to contact the former Elder (but still – even after this long e-mail – good looking) James Edwards. His current contact information can be found on Clydera.com, since he recently took time away from his busy, tiresome, and treacherous schedule to keep his Clydera.com profile updated. (hint, hint) And, let us be honest… if Edwards can do it… not many can, but you are definitely encouraged to try. :-]

Hoping this finds you and yours, and your neighbor, well.

Later,

Jones

PS : If you know other missionaries that have not been as diligent as Edwards, by keeping their Clydera.com info up-to-date, please pass the word along, and call them to repentance.

March 10, 2004    Hey all you awesome SEM missionaries, here is the most current update I have on President and Sister McConkie. - Susie & Jason Harris

Dear Susie,

So sorry to be so long responding. We're trying to figure it all out. Joseph finished #9 treatment last week. They are getting dramatically harder on him. He is on an every other week regime and we have to play it a treatment at a time. His platlets have been too low a few times as well as his white blood count and it has delayed his scheduling a week or so at a time. He goes in on Monday the 15th for blood tests to see if he can start #10 treatment {. If he does stay on schedule, the week of the reunion will be the week of treatment #11. He has had increasing effects with each treatment, especially the week and weekend of the treatment. The bottom line is that we don't know what to expect. We want badly to come and will plan on it....but as with our life of late, everything is a day by day thing. If you'll write again in a week or so maybe we can tell more.

Please in your communication with other SEM'ers give our great love and tremendous appreciation for the many prayers and faith extended in Joseph's behalf. We feel it and know that things could be much worse. He is still teaching at the Y...doesn't have a class on Fridays...but teaches Monday thru Thursday and it has been a tremendous boost for his emotional well-being. We pray that that blessing will continue through to the end of the 12 treatments. We love and appreciate all of you so much!!

How many former missionaries are close enough to come to a separate gathering if this doesn't work out...here at our home or something? Just a fleeting thought....

Again, please know of our love and great appreciation!!

Love,
Brenda
